01 · Quick start

Get from zero to your first AI-assisted diagnosis.

AI Site Debugger uses Cloudflare Workers AI for AI-assisted analysis. For the REST API setup, Cloudflare currently requires an API token and your Cloudflare Account ID.

Important terminology: Cloudflare calls this an API token, not an API key. In the plugin settings, use the token generated for Workers AI and the Account ID belonging to the same Cloudflare account.
02 · Requirements

Before you configure the plugin.

✓WordPress site with AI Site Debugger installed
✓Active Cloudflare account
✓Workers AI available on the account
✓Permission to create a Workers AI API token
03 · Cloudflare Workers AI

How to get your Cloudflare Workers AI API token.

Follow these steps in the Cloudflare dashboard. The labels below follow Cloudflare's current Workers AI REST API setup flow.

01

Open Workers AI

Sign in to the Cloudflare dashboard and open the Workers AI page.

02

Select “Use REST API”

On the Workers AI page, select Use REST API. This is the REST API setup screen used to obtain the credentials.

03

Create a Workers AI API Token

Select Create a Workers AI API Token. Cloudflare will show the prefilled token configuration for review.

04

Review and create

Review the permissions and select Create API Token.

05

Copy the token immediately

Select Copy API Token and save it somewhere secure. Treat this value like a password.

Do not share the token. Never publish it in a Git repository, frontend JavaScript, screenshots, support tickets or public documentation.
Creating a custom token: If you create an API token manually instead of using Cloudflare's Workers AI template, Cloudflare's REST API documentation says the token needs both Workers AI - Read and Workers AI - Edit permissions.

04 · Account ID

Copy your Cloudflare Account ID.

On the same Workers AI REST API setup flow, locate Account ID and copy the value for the Cloudflare account where Workers AI is enabled.

Credentials you will needKeep private
CLOUDFLARE_API_TOKEN = "your-token"
CLOUDFLARE_ACCOUNT_ID = "your-account-id"
Ready to configure: once you have both values, return to WordPress and enter them in the AI Site Debugger settings.
05 · Plugin configuration

Add the credentials to AI Site Debugger.

Open the AI Site Debugger settings in WordPress and enter the Cloudflare Workers AI credentials requested by the plugin.

01

Open plugin settings

In WordPress admin, open AI Site Debugger → Settings.

02

Select Cloudflare Workers AI

Choose Cloudflare Workers AI as the AI provider if the provider selector is available.

03

Enter Account ID and API Token

Paste the Account ID and API token into the corresponding fields. Do not add extra spaces or quotation marks.

04

Save the settings

Save the configuration before testing the connection.

Implementation note: The exact field names and provider controls should match the current AI Site Debugger settings UI. This documentation intentionally avoids inventing field names that are not confirmed by the supplied product page.
06 · Verification

Test before relying on AI analysis.

After saving the credentials, run a diagnostic from AI Site Debugger. Confirm that the AI analysis step completes and that the resulting report contains a meaningful explanation or recommendation.

01

Run a diagnostic

Collect the site's available diagnostic signals.

02

Check AI analysis

Confirm the analysis stage completes without an authentication or request error.

03

Review the report

Review the likely cause, supporting context and recommended next steps before changing the site.

07 · Security

Protect the Cloudflare token.

The token grants access to Workers AI APIs. Keep it private and limit who can access the WordPress administrator account that stores the configuration.

✓Never expose the token in browser-side JavaScript
✓Never commit credentials to Git
✓Use HTTPS for WordPress administration
✓Rotate/revoke a token if you believe it was exposed
Least privilege: If you manually create the token, use only the permissions required by the integration. Cloudflare's current Workers AI REST API guide specifies Workers AI Read and Workers AI Edit for a manually created token.
08 · Troubleshooting

Common setup problems.

ProblemWhat to check
Authentication failedVerify the API token is complete, active and belongs to the same Cloudflare account as the Account ID.
Account not foundRe-copy the Account ID from the Workers AI REST API screen and make sure there are no spaces.
Permission errorIf using a custom token, confirm it has Workers AI Read and Workers AI Edit permissions.
AI request failsCheck the Cloudflare Workers AI service/account configuration and review the WordPress/plugin error details.
Token was exposedRevoke/rotate the exposed token in Cloudflare and update the plugin with the replacement credential.
