Get from zero to your first AI-assisted diagnosis.
AI Site Debugger uses Cloudflare Workers AI for AI-assisted analysis. For the REST API setup, Cloudflare currently requires an API token and your Cloudflare Account ID.
Before you configure the plugin.
How to get your Cloudflare Workers AI API token.
Follow these steps in the Cloudflare dashboard. The labels below follow Cloudflare's current Workers AI REST API setup flow.
Open Workers AI
Sign in to the Cloudflare dashboard and open the Workers AI page.
Select “Use REST API”
On the Workers AI page, select Use REST API. This is the REST API setup screen used to obtain the credentials.
Create a Workers AI API Token
Select Create a Workers AI API Token. Cloudflare will show the prefilled token configuration for review.
Review and create
Review the permissions and select Create API Token.
Copy the token immediately
Select Copy API Token and save it somewhere secure. Treat this value like a password.
Copy your Cloudflare Account ID.
On the same Workers AI REST API setup flow, locate Account ID and copy the value for the Cloudflare account where Workers AI is enabled.
CLOUDFLARE_API_TOKEN = "your-token" CLOUDFLARE_ACCOUNT_ID = "your-account-id"
Add the credentials to AI Site Debugger.
Open the AI Site Debugger settings in WordPress and enter the Cloudflare Workers AI credentials requested by the plugin.
Open plugin settings
In WordPress admin, open AI Site Debugger → Settings.
Select Cloudflare Workers AI
Choose Cloudflare Workers AI as the AI provider if the provider selector is available.
Enter Account ID and API Token
Paste the Account ID and API token into the corresponding fields. Do not add extra spaces or quotation marks.
Save the settings
Save the configuration before testing the connection.
Test before relying on AI analysis.
After saving the credentials, run a diagnostic from AI Site Debugger. Confirm that the AI analysis step completes and that the resulting report contains a meaningful explanation or recommendation.
Run a diagnostic
Collect the site's available diagnostic signals.
Check AI analysis
Confirm the analysis stage completes without an authentication or request error.
Review the report
Review the likely cause, supporting context and recommended next steps before changing the site.
Protect the Cloudflare token.
The token grants access to Workers AI APIs. Keep it private and limit who can access the WordPress administrator account that stores the configuration.
Common setup problems.
| Problem | What to check |
|---|---|
| Authentication failed | Verify the API token is complete, active and belongs to the same Cloudflare account as the Account ID. |
| Account not found | Re-copy the Account ID from the Workers AI REST API screen and make sure there are no spaces. |
| Permission error | If using a custom token, confirm it has Workers AI Read and Workers AI Edit permissions. |
| AI request fails | Check the Cloudflare Workers AI service/account configuration and review the WordPress/plugin error details. |
| Token was exposed | Revoke/rotate the exposed token in Cloudflare and update the plugin with the replacement credential. |
