Project Summary

We engineered the enterprise SaaS platform that turns strategy into target states, initiatives, and live progress a board can read, and we have engineered and evolved the application behind it since February 2021.
The portfolio, charts, editing experience, and reporting workflows are all ours. Loading, searching, and editing stay responsive at the scale real customers operate, with thousands of elements managed in a live portfolio, and every customer runs on the same foundation with wording and feature set configured per instance. We joined a three-month-old scaffold and have shipped, evolved, and supported the product ever since, with no rewrite along the way.

  • Before this platform, strategy stayed in the boardroom. A board agrees a strategy, sets its target states, and then loses sight of it, with goals in one deck, initiatives in a tracker, and KPIs in a spreadsheet, so nobody can see what is really progressing without asking ten people. When we joined in February 2021, the product was an Angular shell with a dashboard and a sortable table, and the core domain that would become the product had yet to be built. Always-on strategy execution meant meeting four engineering constraints.
  • Progress had to stay accurate as work changes, so it rolls up through a weighted hierarchy with the server owning the calculation.
  • Teams had to maintain their own work, so every edit had to land immediately across portfolios of thousands of rows.
  • Every customer needed some flexibility, so terminology, modules, and rules vary by instance without forking the core product.
  • And enterprise customers expect enterprise readiness, so SSO, field-level permissions, and full German had to coexist with continuous development.
  • The portfolio the product runs on. The hierarchy arrives in one response, held as both a tree and a flat index, so grid rows, Gantt bars, and tree nodes always read from the same record.
  • Continuous editing that feels instant. Values are edited directly in the table with rules handled per field, so correcting a weight or a date takes a click and a keystroke with no full reload, and we decide per edit how far the consequence actually reaches.
  • The visualizations the methodology requires. Standard charting could not express driver networks, target corridors, or the German cost-type breakdown, so these were engineered for the product.
  • Responsiveness that holds under change. We cancel superseded requests so the latest user action always wins, which is part of what lets portfolios of thousands behave like small ones.
  • A foundation built to grow, not to rewrite. Everything that varies by customer sits behind runtime settings, and every domain follows the same module and store pattern, so new capabilities arrive as additions.
  • Teams keep the strategy current. The people closest to the work update their progress, keeping what sits above them relevant, from strategy to portfolio to roll-up to report.
  • Customers adapt the platform without touching the core. Modules, terminology, and rules are configured per instance, so flexibility never means a fork.
  • The product keeps evolving without stopping for a rebuild. We have run a continuous release model for years, and carried Angular from 10 to 13 without pausing delivery.
  • One deployment serves two markets. Full German and English run from a single deployment, so the client reaches both without parallel products.
  • A shell became a platform enterprises rely on. The work that matters is not any one feature, it is a product that absorbs years of new requirements without losing the foundation underneath, which is the engineering partnership WebOsmotic takes on.
